I opened A Course in Miracle’s Workbook at random, asking to be guided to what I needed to learn today. Lesson 106: “Let me be still and listen to the truth. “…Be not afraid today to circumvent the voices of the world. Walk lightly past their meaningless persuasion. Hear them not. Be still today and listen to the truth. Go past all things which do not speak of Him Who holds your happiness within His Hand…Hear one Voice today.”

In this lesson we are told to ask: “What does it mean to give and to receive?” So I asked my Higher Self/Holy Spirit that question and received the following: “In extending God’s Love to others, you receive it. In extending forgiveness to others, you let them off the hook, and so you are also let off the hook. You are forgiven. Therefore you have received the biggest gift on earth. But to receive it, you must give it. Remember that you are all one. This means that what you give to another, you give to yourself. Give love and you receive it. Give forgiveness and you receive it. Give joy and you receive it. Even in your everyday lives you can perceive that this is true. Don’t you feel joyful when you have made someone else joyful?”

I thought about how happy children are when you give them Christmas presents. Just seeing them literally jump for joy when they open them does make us joyful ourselves. It is so much better than opening our own presents. But the true gift to give everybody at Christmas time is love. Just think of all those you know and who you would like to see again but for some reason you can’t, and send them loving thoughts, send them your blessings and you will be blessed.
