'The Angel Lady'
An angel altar is simply a display of your angels figurines usually mixed with a few crystals, fresh flowers and other bits and bobs. I have angel collections all over the house in little ‘still life’ arrangements!
Setting out your Angel Altar:
Find a table, shelf or cupboard top. I like to lay a cloth down first of all. This might be the perfect time to use that lacy table cloth you inherited! You might be able to use a length of velvet or even a sparkly shawl.
If you use candles, don't leave them unattended. Scented ones are lovely too. I use t-lights mainly (for candle colour meanings see my book Protected by Angels or An Angel Treasury.)
If you use flowers, make sure you keep the water fresh and clean or add a flowering plant which might last a little longer. Avoid dried or silk flowers if you want the highest possible energy for your display.
Why not place out a dish or box of Angels Cards on your altar too? They'll be convenient to select one each day and give yourself a reading.
Creating an Angel Altar:
Although we don’t need items decorated with angels in our homes I love them. They always lift my spirits. Angels don’t need to be worshipped or prayed for or to but it’s wonderful to include them in your angel rituals. A ritual is any sort of ceremony which includes a regular and recognised repetitive action. Lighting candles, saying magical words, using crystals, oils or herbs are all ways of creating a ritual.
Although you might read specific ways of communicating with your guardian angel to be honest, in the end
An Angel Display
it just comes down to personal preference. What make’s you feel good, and what seems to work for you.
An angel altar is really just a display of objects you have collected together for a specific purpose. Your angel ‘altar’ is just an arrangement of objects which have particular meanings for you and your angels; shells from the beach, angel figurines, flowers etc
Why not have a go at creating your own displays? I have them all over the house but my favourite is in my study. It’s an every changing arrangement of feathers, sparkly glasses (which I have hand-painted) in which I keep incense, candles and so on), angel figurines, smudge sticks (to cleanse the space in which I work), crystals and other magical items.
Here are a few more:
Candles
Crystals
Angel Figurines
Angel Decorated Objects
Angel Books and Cards
Fresh Flowers
Natural Objects like Stones and Shells
You can use your altar as a place to focus your rituals, or meditations or just as somewhere to store your angel objects.
